Korean has its own language family called Koranic. The Koranic language consists of mainland Korean plus the dialect on Jeju Island.

There are many dialects in Korean and Jeju is the most significantly different. Korean taught in classrooms and used by Koreans today was formed a few hundred years ago.

Korean has nine different dialects. It has some similarities with both Japanese and Chinese. Korean is similar to Japanese in terms of grammar and sentence structure. 

Korean is a phonetic language, meaning that you can sound out the individual letters to make words. It has an alphabet with individual sounds for each letter, and the letters are read from left to right and top to bottom. There are 14 consonants and 10 vowels in the Hangul writing system. 

In order to learn Korean, all you need is dedication and patience. In fact, to do anything all you need is the dedication to keep you going and patience to stay calm while failing.

The Korean language has certain rules for pronunciation when specific letters are combined in the third/final letter in a syllable/character and the first letter of the following syllable/character. This is the first step of achieving the milestone of learning Korean.

The wider vocabulary you have at hand, the easier it will be for you to speak the language fluently. Familiarize yourself with as many simple Korean words as possible. Whenever you come across any new word, jot it down. Create your own dictionary and keep it handy always. You can also attach little labels to items around the house in the Korean language. This way you’ll end up learning without even knowing it.

Until and unless you’re familiar with Korean grammar, you’ll not be able to understand the sentences or conversations with others. Write a list of verbs to learn and look them up in the Korean dictionary. Follow English grammar and take one topic at a time. Learning Korean might be difficult but not impossible. 

 A major portion of Korea lies in numbers. Learning how to count is a basic skill in any language. Counting numbers in Korean can be a bit tricky as they have 2 different number systems depending on the situations – The native Korean system and Sino-Korean, which originates from the Chinese.
