समुच्चयबोधक ऐसे शब्द है जो उपवाक्यो या वाक्यो को जोड़ता है। इसलिए उसे “joining words” याने  जोड़ने वाले शब्द के नाम से भी जानते है।

कुछ उद्धरण इस प्रकार है:

They knocked down all the buildings and built a football stadium. (and – यहाँ दो वाक्यों को जोड़ता है)

Are there three or four people living in that apartment? (or – यहाँ जोड़ने वाले शब्द है)

My sneakers look great but are not very easy to wear. (but- यहाँ दो वाक्यों को जोड़ता है)

Coordinating Conjunctions

Coordinating conjunctions व्याकरण में समान प्रकार के शब्दों को जोड़ते हैं। And, but, or आदि साधारण तौरपर उपयोग होते है। Coordinating conjunctions के प्रकार:-

Connecting words	Which do you like? Green or black?	यहां, दो शब्द, ‘Green’ और ‘black’ को ‘or’ का उपयोग करके जोड़ा है।
Connecting phrases	The dress was very costly and not very comfortable.	यहां, दो मुहावरो को जोड़ने के लिए ‘and’ का उपयोग किया हैं।
Connecting clauses	There is free food available but some people don’t like things for free	यहां, दो उपवाक्यो को जोड़ने के लिए ‘but’ का उपयोग किया हैं।
Connecting sentences	My brother used to be good at sports. But he had to stop participating in sports after he failed for a subject.	दो वाक्य को जोड़ने के लिए ‘But’ का उपयोग किया हैं। यहां एक नए वाक्य की शुरुआत में conjunctions का उपयोग किया है।
Connecting Prefixes	Pro- and anti-liberal groups marched towards the Assembly House.	दो उपसर्ग को जोड़ने के लिए ‘and’ conjunctions का उपयोग किया हैं।
Two word conjunctions	Neither Ravi nor Ashok had been to Mumbai before. Both you and I know what the issue is.	पहला वाक्य में दो conjunctions का उपयोग किया हैं ‘Neither’….. ‘nor’. और दूसरे वाक्य में भी दो conjunctions का उपयोग किया हैं, ‘Both’.. ‘and’.

Subordinating conjunctions:-

प्रधान उपवाक्य (main clause) और गौण उपवाक्य (subordinate clause) को जो शब्द जोड़ता है उसे Subordinating Conjunctions कहते है।

इसे उदाहरण के साथ समझो:

After we had talked over the telephone, I jotted down what we had discussed.

Everyone enjoyed the movie although it had no proper story-line.
