Can I master Kannada in a year?

Mastering a language means different things to different people. According to some it is mastery over the language history and all other aspects of language, whereas others opine that being able to communicate well with locals understanding the various dialects, idioms and phrases used by local people is mastery of the language. There is another opinion according to which a person should be able to speak fluently, read and write and be able to understand the native speakers without struggling would be mastering a language. Now, if you have just started to learn Kannada, an ancient South Indian Dravidian language also designated as a classical language by the government of India and are wondering can I master Kannada in a year, then try to figure out what mastering would mean to you.

Learning Kannada or any new language would mean a lot of hard work. So be prepared for that. Mastering Kannada would depend on a lot of factors. Learning Kannada may be easier for you if you speak any other Dravidian language when compared to others who speak non-Dravidian or other languages.
