Level A2: Basic Tamil Knowledge
When you finish this level, you’ll be able to understand words and commonly used terms in areas that are most important to you right now (e.g. very basic personal and family information, marketing, local geography, employment).
You can interact in easy and routine jobs that need the sharing of basic and direct information on common and routine topics. In simple terms, you can define components of your background, immediate surroundings, and requirements.
Level B1: Pre-Intermediate
You should be able to understand the essential points of clear standard Tamil on known topics encountered frequently in work, school, leisure, and other situations by the end of this level. You can deal with the majority of problems that may happen while travelling in a country where the language is spoken, such as Sri Lanka.
You can write basic, related prose about themes that are familiar to you or that are of personal interest to you. You can briefly explain and justify your beliefs and plans by describing memories and experiences, dreams, aspirations, and ambitions. You are prepared to take a Tamil language test.

Level B2: Intermediate
You will be able to understand the major ideas of complicated texts on both tangible and abstract issues, as well as technical conversations in your field of specialisation in the Tamil language, by the completion of this level. You can converse with a level of fluency and spontaneity that allows you to have frequent conversations with native speakers without straining yourself or your discussion partner.
You can write concise, extensive writing on a variety of topics and convey a point of view on a current situation, including the benefits and drawbacks of alternative options.
Level C1: Upper-Intermediate
After completing this level, you will be able to understand and recognise underlying meaning in a wide range of challenging, longer Tamil literature. You can straightforwardly express yourself fluently and freely without having to look for words. You can employ language in a variety of ways for social, academic, and professional goals.
You can write clear, well-structured, thorough prose on complex topics using organisational patterns, linkages, and cohesive devices in a disciplined manner.
Level C2: Advanced
By completing this level, you’ve demonstrated that you can comprehend almost anything you hear or read in the Tamil language. You can summarise data from a variety of oral and written sources, as well as reconstruct arguments and accounts in Tamil.
Even in more complex settings, you can communicate yourself quickly, eloquently, and clearly, distinguishing finer shades of meaning.
In addition, because you have passed the Advanced level of Tamil language, you can take a variety of Tamil language tests and expect a good range of results.
