Introduction:
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique–such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity–to train attention and awareness and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm, and stable state. We practice meditation in many religious traditions. The earliest records of meditation (dhyana) in the ancient Hindu texts known as the Vedas, and meditation plays a salient role in the contemplative repertoire of Hinduism and Buddhism. Meditation may significantly reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, enhance peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being.
Steps to meditate
-
Music
Music actually plays an important role for our minds to put us in an easy state. There are many options to get peaceful meditation music. The fact about music is that the music you are listening to at the moment can make your mood change in no time. It can make you moody and happy in the next few seconds. In the case of meditation, you need to look for a song/music that calms your mind and forgets about the past or the future, and keeps you in the present.
-
Place
You will never find peace or relax in a crowded place. Try out for yourself and see, it will never work. You can’t sleep in peace or relax your mind as it disturbs your mind and makes you feel restless. You may need to go somewhere peaceful like mountains, rivers, lakes and paddy fields. If you are from the outskirts, I am jealous of you! To hear birds singing and to watch their leaves dancing with the wind, you will definitely forget about things that give you more stress and when you are relieved from the stress, that’s when you find peace and can get more peaceful when you meditate.
-
Eat healthily.
If you consume foods from fast food and restaurants often. It’s terrible for your health. How will you stay peaceful when you have an upset stomach? So, try to be thoughtful and eat the food that your mom makes for you with love. Go for healthier, greener, and tastier foods instead of consuming unhealthy, frozen, oily foods.
-
Stay out of negativity.
Yes, you better stop procrastinating all your life right this moment or stop hanging out with the people who bring negativity in your life. This is even more unhealthy than consuming fast foods! You definitely feel that you’re worthless or not living happily when you keep hearing them compare each and everything. The toxicity level with the wrong people is very high. So, my advice is to avoid them at any cost to help you stay out of stress and to focus on yourself by medicating instead of wasting time hanging out with them.
-
Give yourself some alone time too.
To grow yourself, stay healthy and happy. You need to spare some time for yourself from your busy schedule. In my research, our brain needs to rest now and then. Research has found that taking breaks can improve your mood, boost your performance and increase your ability to concentrate and pay attention. Therefore, we need to sleep for a maximum of 8 hours a day. Just to show you know, sleeping is also another term of meditation too.
