Often I get questions like, how to get admission in DU for the Spanish language? So here I will mention the procedures of getting admission to DU.

But before that, I would like to give a brief description of DU along with the usefulness of learning the Spanish language. 

First, let’s discuss the importance of learning the Spanish language. So I will point out a few things which will give a clear picture regarding the importance of learning the language.

Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world and hence it is a global language. If you can speak in Spanish then it will enhance your resume. And if you are bilingual you will be more competitive in the workplace. If you learn Spanish you can make a difference in the field of education.

With your language skill, you can discover new aspects of your personality. Studies reveal that as we grow older, our memory starts to fade. But learning a foreign language helps keep your memory sharp. 

Now let me come to the point about why I prefer to take admission in DU for the Spanish language course.

Delhi University is a premier university in the country which offers various language courses along with regular courses. Many colleges under DU offer courses in the Spanish language. One can do Part-Time: Certificate in Spanish and also Full-Time: Bachelor in Spanish.

One of the best colleges under DU offering Spanish courses is Jesus & Mary College (JMC). This is a women-only college, through the Spanish department, and offers a BA in Spanish. Admission is based on a written exam and merit list.

Daulat Ram College, Maurice Nagar, Delhi – Offering Diploma, Certificate, Advanced Diploma in Spanish

Miranda House, Mata Sundari College, Mata Sundari Lane, SGTB Khalsa College, Mall Road, Ramjas College, Maurice Nagar, these colleges are offering Certificate courses in Spanish. 

Acharya Narendra Dev College (ANDC), Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, these colleges are offering Certificate, Advanced Diploma, Diploma in Spanish. 

There is a 3 tier language course structure followed in DU. They are:

Certificate Course – For the certificate courses in a foreign language, the candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 45 percent. 

Diploma Course – For admission to Diploma courses in foreign languages at DU, candidates have to pass the certification exam of Delhi University, and this is a must. The admission will be based on the merit list. Candidates who have a language certificate from any institute other than the DU will be required to take up the admission test.

Advanced Diploma Course – For admission to the advanced diploma courses, candidates must pass the diploma exam in the respective language. Candidates who have a diploma in the respective language other than Delhi University will have to give an admission test.

After you have successfully met the criteria for admission and have probably secured seats, then payments have to be made for the foreign language courses. The class schedule will be put up on the college’s website before the commencement of the classes.
