The syllabus for Delhi University’s part-time language courses is pre-defined by the university. Accordingly, the colleges provide training and classes to the enrolled students. The syllabus for language courses at DU differs depending on whether you are pursuing a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma, or a Certificate course. However, the course structure generally consists of the following:
- Text comprehension
- Sentence translation
- Essay on a variety of topics, both general and specific
- The grammar that is both functional and advanced
- Opinion expression Discussion of general and shared interests

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for language courses at Delhi University (DU) differs depending on whether the course being pursued is a Diploma, Certificate or Advanced Diploma. Eligibility criteria for Certificate Language courses:
For a certificate course in any foreign language, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with a minimum aggregate of 45%. Admission to the Certificate courses will be on the basis of merit.
Eligibility criteria for Diploma Language courses:
Direct admission into a Foreign language Diploma course is offered to candidates who have cleared their DU Certification exam; though merit is again criteria for selection.
Candidates who possess a language Certificate from any other institute, need to write an admission test before being considered.
Eligibility criteria for Advanced Diploma courses:
Direct admission into a Foreign language Advanced Diploma course is offered to candidates who have cleared their DU Diploma exam in the respective language, and merit is yet again a criterion for selection.
Candidates who hold a Diploma certificate from an institute other than Delhi University will have to appear for an admission test as a part of the selection process.
