How long will it take me to relearn Chinese?
China’s rapid rise as a worldwide commercial and cultural powerhouse and the globalisation of the economy make it the perfect moment to study Chinese. “Is learning Chinese difficult?” and You may be wondering, “How long does it take to learn again” are some of the major questions asked by various people who want to learn more about the subject. According to official sources and stories, it takes between three and five years to learn Chinese fluently, although there are so many variables to take into account.
The Foreign Institute of the United States (the “FSI”) has classified all over the world’s languages based on how close they are to English. When all other factors are equal, the closer a language is to English, the quicker it is to learn for an English speaker. Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese are at the bottom of the list. As a result, it appears to be one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world.
So, learning the Chinese language can be an intimidating process in your journey.
Mandarin is China’s official and administrative language, one of the United Nations’ few authorized languages, and the world’s most widely spoken language. In Hong Kong, the Chinese territories of Guangdong and Guangxi, Macau, and portions of Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, Cantonese is spoken. In numerous Chinatowns around the United States and Canada, Cantonese is spoken.
It may be difficult to learn Chinese again, yet there are certain areas in which Chinese is simpler than English! Chinese contains about 1,200 syllables, including tonal variants, whereas English has around 8,000. Pinyin, which uses our “Roman” letters, can help English speakers learn to pronounce Chinese words.
Learning this language does not seem difficult if all processes relating to learning are dealt with efficiently.
