Important things to know
In Sanskrit there are 2 types of study, 1st is language or you can say general Sanskrit and 2nd is traditional studies. Mostly depends on what you want to study.
1st general Sanskrit – in general, Sanskrit you got degrees like B. A. and M. A. in Sanskrit. You can get that from any general colleges and universities. They taught you basic Sanskrit literature, basic Sanskrit grammar, basic Sanskrit psychology/philosophy(darshan). And for that, you get that best from the best faculty not from college or university. So you don’t need to seek any college or university for that.
2nd traditional Sanskrit – in traditional Sanskrit, there is a various subject like navya vyakarana (new grammar), pracheen vyakarana (old grammar), sahitya(literature), falit Jyoti’s(astrology), Siddhant Jyoti’s (ancient astronomy), several departments on different branches of darshan(Indian philosophy), jain darshan, baudh darshan, Vaastu and more. So now it depends on what subject you want to study. Like Siddhant jyotish’s best study is in Rashtriya Sanskrit sansthan, Jaipur campus. And Vaastu’s best study is in lal bahadur shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
Sanskrit has been taught over the past 3,500 years and its legacy has been continuing for a long while, enriching the true culture of India. Considered to be one of the oldest Indo-European languages for which substantial written documentation is present, Sanskrit is fast becoming a popular language choice among the masses.
now even India is recording increased enrollments in Sanskrit courses and many students are opting to pursue Shiksha Shastri and Shiksha Acharya courses along with various other Sanskrit courses which are offered in Universities and colleges. Through Sanskrit, students can go on to become teachers, pursue their doctoral and become a professor if they want, become translators, become writers, poets and much more. Sources share that this may have happened because there is huge demand as well as ample opportunities for Sanskrit teachers in government as well as private institutions.
Overall 35,000 to 40,000 per year is charged by the national universities of Sanskrit such as
National Institute for Sanskrit and the normal arts college or language colleges charge you 10,000 to 20,000.
