How to get a Spanish language certification?
Spanish is a Romance language that originated in the Iberian Peninsula of Europe. Today, it is a global language with nearly 500 million native speakers, mainly in Spain and the Americas. It is the world’s second-most spoken native language after Mandarin Chinese, and the world’s fourth-most spoken language overall after English, Mandarin Chinese, and Hindi.
Spanish is one of the most obvious choices when it comes to language learning, for many English speakers. Especially in the United States! Spanish is the second largest language in the United States with more than 33 million speakers. Choosing a language to learn is a tough decision. You want to be sure Spanish is your true calling!
Today, I would begin by listing the available Spanish certifications first. So this is what you are aiming for, depending on your proficiency level or requirement:
CELU – certification is widely accepted across Argentina, Brazil and China. This exam has two levels or grades: intermediate and advanced.
DELE DELE has good recognition globally. It is recognized by the Spanish ministry of education and science. It can be considered the most opted exam by many students worldwide. DELE is also regarded as the closest equivalent to TOEFL.
TELC – is a standardized test for ten languages including the Spanish language. This certification is internationally authorized and recognized across Europe. There are 6 levels in TELC as it is based on CEFR and the Minimum age of the candidate is 16 years.
CELA test for Spanish has 3 levels. There is no particular eligibility criteria.
ECL – is another language proficiency test based on CEFR. This test has 4 levels: A2, B1, B2 and C1. A good thing about the test is that it has no tests on grammar and translation.
STAMP 4S & STAMP 4SE (Standards-Based Assessment and Measurement of Proficiency)
OPIc – ACTFL/LTI
The tests such as STAMP 4S, STAMP 4SE (elementary level) and OPIc – ACTFL/LTI are computer-based.
