If you go by the language difficulty ranking given by Foreign Service Institute Hindi is placed in Category III which means it has significant and cultural differences from English. It takes 44 weeks or 1100 hours to learn Hindi as per this ranking. It is important to understand that this ranking is given with reference to English.
If you are someone from India, you probably may not need to spend this amount of time and can learn Hindi relatively faster and easily.
Though considered to be difficult, there could be various factors that may influence that.
