The main advantage of learning a language on your own is the fact that you will be able to assess your own growth but this is also the major disadvantage of learning a language on your own. 

This is because there will be absolutely nobody in charge or in authority to let you know if you’re going wrong or if your methodology of learning the language is not the right one. This essentially means that you could waste a lot of your time learning a language in the wrong manner and think that you are just not able to learn the language. Therefore it is very important to have at least somebody in charge to let you know how you are learning the language and if your skills are growing at a much larger scale.
