Introduction:
The stage of learning Japanese can be divided into four main stages and the stages can be further subdivided into many subcategories. Before starting the explanation about the stages, let us first discuss the important aspects of learning the Japanese language. By learning the Japanese language or any other language you need to know the culture, history, and tradition of that country.
As you know Japan is a country of East Asia and their language is spoken by 128 million people around the world. Even in Japan, there are different accents spoken by people from different regions.
So, in this blog, let’s learn about the different stages of learning Japanese.
Different stages of learning Japanese:
1. Beginner
In this stage, you will be introduced to the culture, tradition, history, etc about japan briefly. Learning the alphabet is the very first step to learning any language. You will be taught how to read and write the alphabet or the characters. There are three different types of alphabets in Japanese script, i.e is Kanji (the Chinese character), and the most difficult part of learning Japanese, hiragana, and katakana.
There are different usages for each character. You need to know the usages of these three characters, for example, Hiragana is primarily used for native Japanese words and consists of 46 characters or 51 phonetic characters. It’s the key to understanding how and why Japanese words sound the way they do. Because most of the characters have only one pronunciation, Hiragana is quite easy to learn.Сompared to Hiragana, Katakana is used for non-Japanese or loanwords: a word adopted from a foreign language. These include technical and scientific terms, as well as the names of some plants and animals. At the beginning of your learning process hiragana will be used frequently but as your level increases the hiragana will be changed to katakana.
It is inevitable for you to learn the characters otherwise it will be very difficult for you in the long run. Not only the alphabet you will be taught how to read simple words, basic grammar, and basic conversation. This stage is considered the easiest stage of a learning process yet it is highly difficult to master it.
2. Intermediate
In the second stage, you will be trained to be able to understand complex sentences, conversation, vocabularies, and grammar. You need to be fluent in reading as well as writing the characters of the Japanese script. Not only learning grammar as well as vocabulary is also of utmost importance for you to master the language.
3. Advance or Expert
The last stage of the language learning process is the advanced or the expert stage, in this stage you need to master the complex or long conversation, complex grammar, and complex sentences. You need to understand the phrases and need to have abundant vocabularies in your brain. In this stage, you need to be able to engage in conversions without grammatical mistakes and pronunciation mistakes.
